The new surface metro line MCD-3 “Leningradsko-Kazansky” was opened just a week ago, on August 17. But this week, passengers have already made more than 2 million trips along the new diameter.
This was told by Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maxim Liksutov. He recalled that the new route passes through 24 districts of Moscow and 4 cities of the Moscow region. Passengers can now travel directly from Zelenograd to Elektrozavodskaya or from Ramenskoye to Ostankino.
Trains of the latest generation “Ivolga 3.0” run on MCD-3. The traffic interval during peak hours has been reduced to 5.5 – 5.6 minutes, and there is no longer a daytime break in traffic. Trips have become much cheaper due to new fares and free transfers to the metro and MCC.
“We launched the third surface metro line on behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin,” says Maxim Liksutov, emphasizing that traffic statistics are “an excellent indicator that demonstrates the demand for and convenience of the new route.”
