The large-scale program for the renovation of metro carriages in the capital does not stop. According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport, the metropolitan metro will receive a number of new Russian-made cars in 2023.
“Next year, we expect to receive about 300 more Moscow-2020 railcars. Due to new deliveries, we will be able to open new lines with the usual short interval of movement, renew the rolling stock where trains of the previous generation now run, and create new comfortable jobs in the metro with social guarantees and a stable income,” Liksutov said.
He recalled that since 2010, more than 4,000 modern carriages have been purchased for the Moscow Metro, which has increased the comfort of metro passengers’ travel. This year, the train fleet has already been renewed by 70%.
Deliveries of railcars in 2023 will go mainly to work on the new sections of the BKL and the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line — thanks to this, it will be possible to launch the Big Circle Line with a comfortable interval for passengers and replace the trains of the previous generation on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya branch.
