Since March 1, when Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened traffic on the Big Circle Line of the Moscow metro, passengers have already made more than 10.6 million trips. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Government of Moscow Maxim Liksutov. According to him, about 1 million passengers use the BCL on weekdays, and by the end of the year this figure will increase to 1.3 million, taking into account the launch of MCD-3 and MCD-4. And the Big Ring will still have huge reserves of carrying capacity.
According to Liksutov, more than 70% of passengers moved from other lines to a more convenient BKL. This has reduced passenger traffic at many stations – up to 30% of the previous figures. First of all, Sokolniki, Kaluzhskaya, Nizhny Novgorod MCC and the previously busy Komsomolskaya station “breathed” freely.
Well, the most popular BCL stations in the new section were Tekstilshchiki, Sokolniki, and Kashirskaya.
There are more than 150 thousand new passengers, people continue to come to the BCL, many of them are motorists. The largest increase in passenger traffic is at transfer stations.
“On March 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin launched the world’s largest metro ring, the Big Circle Line. The Big Ring in the shortest possible time became a very popular line of the Moscow metro, – Maxim Liksutov said, – We thank the city residents for their trust in the capital’s transport.
