Matytsin called Isinbayeva’s attitude to her military rank unacceptable

The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin condemned the attitude of the two-time Olympic champion in pole vaulting Elena Isinbayeva to the military rank. During a conversation with reporters on Wednesday, Matytsin said that such an attitude is unacceptable.
“There is an absolutely unambiguous assessment here – it is unacceptable to treat a military rank, a civil position and the events that take place in your native country this way,” he said.
He believes that anyone who loves their country should be negative about such statements.
Earlier, Isinbayeva announced on her social networks the resumption of her work in the commission of athletes of the International Olympic Committee in September 2023. She noted that the IOC found no reason to remove her from duty. Isinbayeva also stated that she had never served in the Russian Armed Forces and called her major, which she was awarded for her performances in CSKA, “nominal.”
