Matthew Perry’s stepfather, Keith Morrison, has spoken out for the first time almost a month after his stepson, the Friends actor, died at the age of 54.
Morrison made a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) calling for donations to the Matthew Perry Foundation as he celebrated his philanthropy.
“This is not what I usually do. But this year everything is different. And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Do what you can; he would be grateful,” the stepfather’s post reads.
The foundation was founded after Perry’s death to continue his passion for helping others struggling with addiction. The actor has spoken publicly about his years-long battle with alcohol and opioid addiction, including sharing details of his struggles in his memoir, which was released last year.
Perry died on October 28. Police found him unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. The cause of his death remains under investigation and toxicology results are awaited.
The actor’s Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston also took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday to encourage fans to support the Matthew Perry Foundation.
