The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, former Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oksana Markarova, wrote on social networks that most of the funds that the White House requested from Congress for the defense needs of Ukraine will remain in the United States.
She explained that the White House’s budget request to Congress involves allocating $61.4 billion to Ukraine. Of these, $46.1 billion is for the defense needs of Ukraine and $11.8 billion is for direct budget support.
According to Markarova, out of $46.1 billion for Ukraine’s defense needs, $30.6 billion will be sent to the US Department of Defense to replenish defense reserves, reimburse the costs of defense services, train the Ukrainian military, and others.
She also said that the US House of Representatives will consider this request only after the House elects a speaker.
