Marina Loshak said at a press conference that she had decided to step down as director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts “on time in every sense.” According to her, this decision was made consciously. She served in the position for about 10 years.
“All decisions were made by me, I was preparing for this. Ten years is a good time for a museum director, this is my strong feeling. And today is very timely, just on time in every sense. And I feel it, and I’m ready for it, so don’t knock me off my cheerful mood, ”said Ms. Loshak (quoted by RIA Novosti).
She promised that all the museum staff would remain in their places, and she would continue to communicate with them and “think about how you can help, and how to be creative, and where you can get money.” Marina Loshak added that the appointment of a new director of the museum was not coordinated with her.
Ministry of Culture today, March 21, officially confirmed the departure of Marina Loshak, who headed the Pushkin Museum since July 1, 2013. Elizaveta Likhacheva, director of the Museum of Architecture, will replace her.
