In Chita, the procession of trade unions of the Trans-Baikal Territory and the rally-concert traditionally held on May 1 have been canceled. As Kommersant was told in the regional organization of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR), this decision “was influenced by various reasons.”
“Firstly, the city authorities of Chita could not agree on a rally-concert for May 1. The fact is that bad weather conditions in April disrupted the schedule for preparing Lenin Square for the celebrations on Victory Day. The area will be put in order from April 29 to May 2, – explained in the regional organization of the federation. – As for the procession, the leadership of the FNPR decided to cancel it throughout the country due to the safety of the participants.
Festive events dedicated to Labor Day will be held at the premises of the regional organization of the FNPR. Earlier it was reported that the authorities of Transbaikalia canceled festive fireworks on Victory Day. The saved funds will be directed to the needs of the SVO.
