Chinese marathon runner disqualified for smoking on the course

A 52-year-old Chinese marathon runner nicknamed “Smoking Brother” smoked the entire 42 km distance of the Xiamen Marathon. He ran the distance in 3 hours 33 minutes, finishing in 574th place out of more than 1,500 race participants.

The organizers did not tolerate the obvious disrespect for a healthy lifestyle: the committee of the Xiamen Marathon, which took place in January, announced the disqualification of Uncle Chen based on the rules.

The cause is said to be “uncivilized behavior” that affects the safety of other runners: trampling on flowerbeds, defecating while walking, and smoking.
