Major snowkiting competitions to be held on Lake Onega in Petrozavodsk

The Ministry of Education and Sports of Karelia reported that in March Petrozavodsk will host the international kite marathon “Trans-Onego”. Winter competitions in expeditionary snowkiting are held annually on Lake Onega, many local and visiting athletes go on an extra long distance. This year the marathon is scheduled from 2 to 7 March.
And from 16 to 20 March, the Cup of Russia in marathon races and the Championship of Karelia at a distance for children will be held in the Karelian capital.
Athletes from Karelia, Komi, Moscow, Kostroma, Cheboksary and Yaroslavl, as well as Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Leningrad regions will take part in the competition. Even World and European Champions, winners of various large-scale Russian competitions, will take to the ice.
