Luton Football Club captain Thomas Lockyer collapsed during the English Premier League match against Bournemouth. According to the club’s press service, the athlete suffered cardiac arrest.

The footballer became ill in the 65th minute of the match when the score was 1:1. He received emergency medical care on the field. Already on the field, Lockyer came to his senses. After that, he was loaded onto a stretcher, carried into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. The game was stopped and the result was cancelled.

The Luton club thanked the medical teams of both teams for saving the life of the captain. The press service also clarified that the athlete’s condition is stable, he is undergoing tests and studies in the hospital ward. His family came to visit Lockyer.

This is the second such emergency involving a Welshman. In May, during a match with Coventry City for promotion to the Premier League, Lockyer also lost consciousness. Then the 29-year-old Wales football player was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. A month later, the athlete was operated on.

After the operation, already this season, the defender played 15 matches. He scored one goal and assisted his teammates once again.
