Lukashenko explained why he sees no point in a sanitary zone on the border with Ukraine

Belarus does not need a sanitary zone on the border with Ukraine, since “we work there very seriously.” This statement was made on Thursday, April 11, by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
The politician quoted by BelTA called the formation of such a zone on the Russian-Ukrainian border a difficult issue, since “much will depend not only on the warring countries, but also on Western states.”
Lukashenko noted that “there are serious problems in Ukraine, they already recognize this,” and also emphasized that “I would not like the West to continue this escalation.”
Earlier, the head of the Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, said that in the sanitary zone on the border of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about, there may be residential buildings – they will be safe. The parliamentarian stressed that this is not an exclusion zone – it is a sanitary zone in which everything will be controlled by the Russian army.
Governor of the Zaporozhye region Evgeniy Balitsky believes that the width of the sanitary zone on the border with Ukraine must exceed 300 kilometers — this choice of distance is determined by the flight range of the ammunition supplied to Ukraine by the Western defense industry.
