An investigation is underway in Belarus in connection with an identified scheme for the criminal sale of dairy products to Russia. Government officials are also likely to participate in it, said President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko at meeting.

“The information received showed that the implementation of the scheme could not be carried out without the participation of officials of enterprises and government agencies. Roman Aleksandrovich (Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko – Vedomosti), also answer if your faces are there. Members of the government also shine there. I’m not giving names while the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

According to Lukashenko, eight “commercial groups” managed, thanks to bribery, to obtain the right of priority distribution of dairy products in their favor with the possibility of purchasing at a price below the established indicative. These companies had controlled organizations in Russia, to which they sold “milk” at a minimal margin. Those, in turn, sold the goods to the end consumer at a higher price, which led to an understatement of the tax base.

According to the KGB of Belarus, during the operational work, 26 people were detained and 15 were arrested.

“Now they will start howling and shouting: there was a “doctors’ case,” there was someone else’s case, now it’s a “milkmen’s case.” I specifically say this in front of the governors, because this is typical for you <...> But you will answer everything. Moreover, you will answer harshly,” he said.
