Lukashenka doubts Zelensky’s innocence in preparing sabotage near Minsk

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky could not have been unaware of the preparation of sabotage at the Machulishchi airfield near Minsk, since such operations are not carried out without the consent of the country’s leadership. This statement was made by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

“I somehow thought that Ukraine needs peace, that Zelensky is rooting for his people. President Zelensky is just a nit. Just nit! Such operations are not carried out without the consent of the head of the country and the commander-in-chief,” Lukashenko noted (quote according to BelTA).

The Belarusian leader explained that he gave such a characterization to Zelensky, since he “runs around Belarus” and offers to conclude a “non-aggression pact.” At the same time, Minsk has repeatedly emphasized that they are not going to attack Ukraine, Lukashenka noted, but Kyiv continued to insist on an agreement. “Well, the challenge has been thrown,” said the President of Belarus after the arrest of saboteurs at the Machulishchi airfield.

At the same time, Lukashenka added, Belarus will not be drawn into hostilities “tomorrow”. He noted that the authorities of the republic have “strong nerves” and they “know what needs to be done.”

Earlier today in Belarus detained terrorist and his accomplices, who were planning a sabotage against the Russian A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft at the Machulishchi airfield near Minsk. According to Lukashenko, the detainee is a citizen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, in 2014 he was recruited by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

The Belarusian leader noted that the incidents at the airfield near Minsk and in the Bryansk region are “links in the same chain.” In his opinion, Kyiv is doing this “to demonstrate to the West what they are still capable of” and to receive new assistance from Western countries.

Ukrainian saboteurs attacked the Bryansk region on March 2. As a result, two people died, and an 11-year-old teenager was also injured. The so-called “Russian Volunteer Corps” took responsibility for the sabotage. Commenting on the incident, Russian President Vladimir Putin characterized him like a terrorist attack. In Kyiv, involvement in sabotage is denied.
