State Duma Deputy Andrei Lugovoy appealed to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov with a request to give a legitimate assessment of the actions of singer Valery Meladze, who spoke out in support of Ukraine at a concert in Dubai. The MP published the text of the appeal in his Telegram channel.
“I turned to the Prosecutor General with a request to check and give a legitimate assessment of the actions and statements of Valery Meladze, who allows himself to glorify a terrorist state. He is not the first, he is not the last. And whether we can now adequately and symmetrically respond to such actions and words depends on the general course of the state to strengthen civic identity, ”says Andrei Lugovoy.
Earlier, several Telegram channels distributed a video from Valery Meladze’s New Year’s concert in Dubai. On it, the author of the video says to the singer: “Glory to Ukraine”, after which he removes the microphone and answers something. The author calls him “handsome” in response. The singer’s phrase was not captured on video. In social networks, it was suggested that Mr. Meladze said: “Glory to the heroes.”
After the publication of the video, member of the Federation Council Elena Afanasyeva suggested deprive Valery Meladze of Russian citizenship. Later, commenting on the video from the concert, the singer declared: “I can’t and don’t want to hate anyone and I don’t try to please anyone. My only dream is that antagonism will end and harmony will be established between close peoples. And for this I am ready to give all my strength.
