Lost from the case of the burned-out “Superjet” material evidence decided to find

The loss of important physical evidence – a disk with records of the flight recorder – was devoted on Monday to the trial of the crew commander of the Superjet, who burned down during landing in Sheremetyevo in May 2019. Then, we recall, 41 people died. As already reported by MK, the defenders learned about the disappearance of the disc at the end of last week.

The defense of the defendant Denis Evdokimov during the meeting suggested that either the data carrier at some stage remained “in the desk” of the investigator for especially important cases, who dealt with this case. Another version is not ruled out that one of the judges handed him over to the next one (during the investigation, two compositions of the court have already changed). The judge tried to hint at the insignificance of such a loss, we recall that the lawyers made a copy of the disc. But the defenders recalled that, under current law, a copy cannot be considered evidence, since it is not sealed and changes can be made to it at any time. Evdokimov himself also said that he considers it possible to make statements after the disk is found. The crew commander intends to base all his testimony on the data of the aircraft’s flight recorder.

It was decided to start searching for the original disk, which can be either in the Investigative Committee or the Interstate Aviation Committee.

In addition, the lawyer of the injured passengers and their loved ones, Igor Trunov, spoke about a parallel process in a conversation with an MK correspondent. The victims of the terrible tragedy turned to the French court with a lawsuit against the manufacturers of parts for the Superjet 100 aircraft, which, in their opinion, are largely responsible for the accident. Parts manufacturers demanded an official translation of the claim (the already finished translation was certified by the victims themselves), and they also appeal to a “rather formal moment.” A number of persons who at the time of the disaster were minors, but by now have reached the age of 19, which means that the procedural status of both themselves and their representatives and trustees has not yet been established.
