Lokomotiv defeated Avangard and reached the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup

The Yaroslavl team “Lokomotiv” in the dramatic seventh match of the series was able to overcome the Omsk “Avangard” on its own field.

Before the final match the score in the series was 3-3. And each of the teams, having snatched victory in the final of the series, could get a pass to the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup.

In the first period, Arur Kayumov opened the scoring. In the second period, despite a stubborn fight in the Lokomotiv zone, the opponents failed to open the scoring. Daniil Isaev worked miracles as a goalkeeper.

In the third period, Lokomotiv again successfully attacked. Maxim Berezkin boldly attacked the opponent’s goal. And he achieved success by scoring a goal. The match ended with a score of 0-2 in favor of Lokomotiv. The team unanimously chose Daniil Isaev as the best player of the match.

Igor Nikitin, head coach of Lokomotiv, thanked the opponent for the emotional and strong series.

Lokomotiv will meet Chelyabinsk Traktor in the semi-finals. The series starts in Yaroslavl. And it promises to be very difficult. “Traktor” managed to reach the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup in just 4 matches, and now had a great rest while waiting for the end of the confrontation between “Lokomotiv” and “Avangard”. The games are scheduled for April 2 and 4.
