The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, held a liturgy in the church of St. Agapit of the Caves on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in honor of the feast of the Holy Trinity. Despite the persecution that is now being carried out against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian authorities, the temple was filled with parishioners, as can be seen on the videos provided by eyewitnesses.
As RIA Novosti clarifies, Onufry congratulated the faithful on the feast of the Holy Trinity and expressed his gratitude to everyone who supports and believes in the UOC.
Recall that the Ukrainian authorities organized a large-scale wave of persecution of the UOC, but parishioners continue to gather in churches and take part in religious rites.
Raider seizures of churches, attacks on the clergy and believers by schismatics and nationalists have become a reality for the UOC. Local authorities in different regions of Ukraine make decisions to ban the activities of the UOC, and a project on the actual ban of the church is being discussed in the country’s parliament. The Security Service of Ukraine conducts investigations against the clergy of the UOC, carries out searches in churches and monasteries, being in search of “anti-Ukrainian activities.”
