Lithuania has not paid compensation for heating to citizens for several months now. The amounts owed have already exceeded several million euros.
“In September-October, we had a record number of applicants,” the Vilnius city government reported. “We receive about 1,000 applications a day, and the department is able to process 600.”
Local officials are advising Lithuanians to apply to their municipalities for deferred payment for energy.
The Lithuanian Parliament, as previously reported, allocated €570 million from the country’s budget for compensation for electricity and gas.
