In an interview with Ouest France, Landsbergis expressed support for French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement that the possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine cannot be completely ruled out.
As the Lithuanian minister believes, “the right time has come for such discussions,” and the launch of a discussion of this topic “will allow us to discard the red lines that we have set for ourselves.”
Back in February, Landsbergis emphasized that he considered Macron’s idea of sending Western troops to Ukraine noteworthy, since the fate of all of Europe is being decided on Ukrainian territory. In such periods, political leadership and unconventional thinking are needed, noted the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
