The North-Western Concession Company (SZKK, concessionaire of the head section of the M-11 Neva highway from 15th to 58th km) began installing lighting masts on the section from Sheremetyevo to Solnechnogorsk. Since the route was put into operation in 2014, there has been light only on the MKAD-Sheremetyevo section, which has caused complaints from drivers. The decision to install 500 new supports (work has already begun) was made at the “request of clients,” NWCC told Kommersant, although this was initially planned to be done only in 2037.

“Artificial lighting will allow users to navigate the toll road with even greater comfort and better visibility,” the company said.

Since lighting poles are placed on the barrier fence separating oncoming traffic, traffic will be blocked on the leftmost lanes to accommodate construction equipment and installation crews, NWCC reported. “To reduce the likelihood of congestion, work on the installation of new lighting lines will be carried out during periods of reduced road load and will be carried out in several stages, the first of which, from the 29th to the 38th km, is planned to be completed by the summer season of 2024,”— the company said. In the remaining sections, the NWCC promises to complete work by the end of 2026.

Starting from the 58th km, the Neva, let us remind you, is under the jurisdiction of Avtodor and is already illuminated. To organize completely seamless travel from Moscow to St. Petersburg, the state company is building a bypass of Tver, the first section of which will open at the end of this year.
