The Prosecutor General’s Office was asked to initiate a criminal case on treason against Liya Akhedzhakova and recognize her as a foreign agent
Vitaly Borodin, leader of the “Federal Project for Security and Combating Corruption”, who had previously repeatedly addressed law enforcement officers with statements against public figures, wrote a statement to the Prosecutor General’s Office about People’s Artist Lia Akhedzhakova. In his appeal addressed to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, the applicant asks to recognize the actress as a foreign agent, as well as to initiate three criminal cases against her.
Borodin writes that he suspects Akhedzhakova of treason (275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), “public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” (Borodin mentions 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “repeated discredit” or “discredit that entailed grave consequences”) and extremism – ” inciting hatred or enmity” (282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The applicant also asks the prosecutor’s office, recognizing Akhedzhakova as a foreign agent, to deprive her of awards and honorary titles. Borodin, in his letter, claims that the actress, while living in Russia, gives interviews to “Ukrainian TV channels”, expresses support for Ukraine, and allegedly sponsors the Armed Forces of Ukraine and encourages subscribers to do the same on social networks. It should be noted that earlier Akhedzhakova denied reports about the alleged transfer of funds to any army. The 84-year-old artist said she had no idea how to make such money transfers.
