Aksyonov announced the readiness of the Crimea for any development of events in the framework of the special operation

Crimea prepared for any development of events within the framework of a special military operation, said the head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov. He called the decision to build defensive structures in the Crimea and on the approaches to the peninsula correct and justified.

“I believe that the decision to build defensive structures in the Crimea and on the outskirts of the peninsula was correct and justified. This does not mean that they will necessarily be used for their intended purpose. We had to prepare for any development of events, and we did it, ” wrote Aksenov in his Telegram channel.

Commenting on the news about the alleged Ukrainian counter-offensive to the Crimea, Aksyonov noted that the enemy should not be underestimated, “but we can definitely say that we are ready for this and there will be no catastrophe”

“In general, I can say that our Armed Forces have built a modern, defense in depth, a lot has been done and continues to be done to provide our defenders with everything necessary. More than enough power,” he added.

In March, in an interview with RIA Novosti, Aksenov toldthat the construction of a defensive line in the Crimea is proceeding according to plan, taking into account the experience of hostilities. Last fall he informedthat in the Crimea, under the control of the authorities, fortification work is being carried out to ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the peninsula. The head of the region emphasized that the measures taken today by the Russian military and security forces are sufficient to ensure the security of Crimea. At the same time, the security of the peninsula should be ensured through “measures carried out primarily on the territory of the Kherson region.”

At the end of February Aksenov declaredthat the federal authorities supported the creation of a fortification line in the Crimea. He emphasized that the idea to build a fortification line belongs to him. He also thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for supporting the initiative and stressed that Crimea “is Russian and will remain forever, no matter what anyone plans.” Also in February Aksenov saidthat the construction of fortifications is planned to be completed by April 1, at the latest – April 15. He clarified that the Crimean authorities “are being supported by the federal budget.”

Earlier in an interview with Funke media group newspapers, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken declaredthat the counteroffensive of Ukraine will begin in the near future. In response to this, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov notedthat Blinken’s statement about a possible imminent Ukrainian counter-offensive is the subject of close monitoring by the Russian military.
