LG plant in Poland began to adapt TVs for the Russian market

The LG plant, located in the Polish city of Mlawa, has begun installing software on Smart TVs adapted for the Russian market. About it writes Kommersant, citing a source in the electronics market.
According to Kommersant, TVs imported under the parallel import mechanism are equipped with Russian online cinemas and support the Alisa voice assistant. TVs that are not adapted for the Russian market do not support Smart TV functions and can only broadcast terrestrial television.
The source of the publication said that televisions are first imported to Belarus, and from there to Russia. A line for the production of TV sets for the CIS was allocated at the plant in Mlava, the interlocutor of Kommersant emphasized.
LG TVs are supplied to retail chains not only from Poland, but also from Indonesia. According to the publication, some stores, if the TV is imported unofficially, write in the product cards that Smart TV will not work in Russia.
According to lawyers, such actions on the part of LG do not violate sanctions, but may create problems for the company – from fines to criminal cases, commented Mergen Doraev, partner at the law firm EMPP.
LG Electronics suspended all deliveries to Russia in March 2022. Information about this is published on the company’s official website.
