Let’s play a love story to the golden hits of San Remo in the Central House of Arts

“Other neon blinds our eyes… Here, in the Ancona cafe, an accordion sings at the pier in the evening. He reminds us of an accordion, and, breathing with colorful furs, he carries away thoughts little by little to those for whom the soul has languished.

For some reason, I remembered the words of this famous hit by Sergei Matveenko after I talked with the Honored Artist of Russia, producer Vladislav Demchenko. Vladislav spoke about his new Russian-Italian musical project “Life is like a dream”, which will be presented on June 15, 16 at the Central House of Arts.

“This project,” says Vladislav Demchenko, “was conceived by me a year ago together with the director Leyla Abu-al-Kishek, well known to the audience of the Vakhtangov Theater, and the popular singer, winner of many international awards, Daria Klimenko (mezzo-soprano).

The musical and dramatic play “Life is like a dream” was created on the basis of the works of popular Italian composers and the original dramatic novel, which the director herself brought me. This is a story about the loneliness of a middle-aged musician and his overcoming this very loneliness. The main theme will be the rekindled love for life and the world around us and the feeling of being in demand.

My hero lives in a small Italian seaside town, works in a bar, falls in love with a singer, and they start a whirlwind romance. She gives birth to a boy for him, but at some point she goes to the store and does not return. The musician is left alone with the child in his arms. The dreams of a middle-aged musician, lost by that time, who knew the futility of sweet splashes of champagne and the stuffiness of loud night Italian bars, flare up in him with renewed vigor. Hope for a new life with the advent of a child becomes quite tangible. In fact, this is a poignant, subtle story about love and loneliness, about finding the meaning of life and knowing yourself as a father.

The performance is permeated with 12 musical compositions – the golden hits of San Remo.

The project is conceived in the format of an art cafe, the premiere should take place on June 15, 16 at the Central House of Artists (TsDRI) on Kuznetsky Most, in the Fireplace Hall. A unique place with brick vaults, “prayed” by artists, is very cozy. The older generation remembers it very well: “Zucchini 13 chairs” was once recorded here. It is in this amazing space that we will play a performance.

The first two performances will be charitable, we invite the elderly, as the main theme of the project is the issues of loneliness and gaining a new desire and thirst for life. Before the start of the performance, music will sound, guests will sit at the tables, light compliments from the organizers will be offered on the tables. And then, after forty minutes from the moment the guests were launched into the hall, the performance will begin directly.

Our Vakhtangov Theatre, which has an art cafe where amazing evenings and Vakhtangov performances are held, is well aware of this format. In the future I plan to show our performance to the theater director Kirill Igorevich Krok. If we succeed (and we hope so), then perhaps Kirill Igorevich will want the play to enter the repertoire of the Vakhtangov Theater as a kind of permanent evening of our art cafe.

The performance is occupied by an amazing musician Nikolai Chermoshentsev, music director and author of arrangements for Vakhtangov’s play “Lyusya. Declaration of love” about Lyudmila Markovna Gurchenko. A musician collaborating with Igor Bril, Igor Butman, Soso Pavliashvili, Alsou and many other talented people will be a certain character in our performance.

Such a synthesis of a live voice, music and romantic dramaturgy awaits our viewers. We hope that the project will give hope and a desire to enjoy what we have.
