Ever since the release of the first film in 1977, fans and critics have been dodging their way around explaining the popularity of Star Wars and placing the film in a dozen different genres. Nobody succeeded in this more than George Lucas himself, who compared the picture with spaghetti westerns, stories of sword and magic; at the center of Star Wars, you’ll find a distinct, if quirky, subgenre: space fantasy.

The laws of physics are discarded in favor of bright events. “I was afraid that science fiction fans would say things like: “You know that sound does not travel in space,” Lucas said in 1977, “I just wanted to forget science. In space, everyone will hear your pew pew. My goal in films was to make a squeeze out of existing religions, not to create a new one. Knowing that the film is designed for a young audience, I tried to convey to the viewer in an accessible way that there is a God, and there are also good and bad sides. You are given a choice between them, but the world is a better place if you choose the good side,” Lucas told his biographer Dale Pollock.
The project, which has no analogues in Russia, “In a Galaxy Far, Far Away” based on George Lucas’ Star Wars movie universe, is located on two floors, where 16 thematic zones are presented, each of which recreates a certain scene from the movie saga. More than 200 exhibits were placed on an area of more than 1,600 square meters, including robotic alien creatures, full-scale installations – reconstructions of worlds, as well as a gallery of cult film costumes.
Guests will be able to see Princess Leia, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, The Mandalorian, Master Yoda and other characters from the movie saga. Also, visitors will examine space technology in great detail and even sit at the helm of a high-speed starship. By the way, the exhibition presents more than a dozen units of space technology, most of them are recreated in full size – more than 4 meters in height. Girls of all ages will be drawn to the ornate costumes of the characters, especially those of Queen Padmé Amidala.
Visiting the exhibition will be interesting for both children and adults who want to learn more about the events that took place in the legendary Far Galaxy. The organizers note that the work on the creation of the exhibition lasted more than a year. A team of like-minded people immersed themselves in the world of Star Wars in detail and paid special attention to the unique spirit of the movie saga. Lukas Aktemirov, curator of the exhibition, notes: “Star Wars”, released in 1977, is a rare example of a modern epic, a unique phenomenon in cinema and popular culture. The director and screenwriter of the first film, George Lucas, invented a whole world with its own history, races and laws. Subsequently, this world was developed and supplemented by other visionaries and authors, saturating it with an incredible amount of detail. For more than a year, we have been preparing the exposition with our friendly and enthusiastic team of like-minded people, plunging into the world of the Distant Galaxy in detail. Created by fans for fans, our exhibition is a place where everyone can feel like a hero of intergalactic travel. When creating the scenes of the movie saga, we paid special attention to the spirit of the Galaxy Far Away, since it is important for us that the visitor, having found himself in the scene he loves, fully feels like a hero of this amazing world.”
“We have a huge amount of ideas, and characters, and books, and a bunch of everything else,” said the Creator (as George Lucas calls himself), “we can make Star Wars for another hundred years. There will always be dissatisfied, no matter what you do. So the best thing you can do is go ahead and try to tell the best story you can.”
