Leonkov named the main trump card of Crimea’s defense from the “wasp swarm” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Ukraine has begun using British “hornet swarm” tactics in the Black Sea to attack Crimea and the main base of the Black Sea Fleet. This was reported by military expert Vladislav Shurygin with reference to materials from analysts at the American Academy at West Point. Leading military analyst, editor of Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Alexey Leonkov, in a conversation with MK, explained why British tactics will not be able to solve the tasks set by the West and what is our main “trump card” in the defense of Crimea.

British tactics of combined attacks in Crimea include, in particular, constant attacks with cruise missiles, drones and unmanned kamikaze boats. Now, as part of the new tactics, the Ukrainian military is practicing a landing on the Crimean peninsula. The work of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters is coordinated by reconnaissance aircraft from Great Britain and NATO countries.

The main goal that the enemy would like to achieve is to squeeze the Russian fleet out of the western part of the Black Sea and seize the initiative with a subsequent build-up of strikes. According to the British, this would help solve a number of strategic problems within a few months. Namely: destroy the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, destroy the Crimean Bridge, and also by landing troops on the peninsula, activate the “sleeping” pro-Ukrainian underground in Crimea.

The only thing that, according to Vladislav Shurygin, Kyiv’s Western mentors do not take into account is the advantage of Russian aviation in the air. The dominance of our Air Force in the airspace is capable of interfering with the implementation of the enemy’s plans.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine, under the leadership of foreign instructors,” says Alexey Leonkov, in August-September they already tried to attack our base in Sevastopol and at the same time land troops. Under the cover of drones that attacked our ships, the enemy tried to penetrate the territory of the Crimean Peninsula, but the saboteurs were still discovered and these attempts were stopped.

We must understand that in Crimea we have built a so-called coastal defense system, in which the fleet, aviation and air defense systems participate. That is, depending on the zone of responsibility of which troops the enemy’s attack weapons fall into, they work on them.

It’s clear that it’s better to deal with landing boats at distant points, so that even if someone survives, they still won’t be able to swim to the shore. It’s the same with drones. The enemy declares that thanks to a complex attack they will succeed. They say that only our aviation can stop them. But they apparently forget that we still have drones. The coastal defense system continues to be improved. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are improving their tactics, but we are not standing still, we are thinking about how to resist more effectively.

Even if, say, they manage to land troops on the shore, what will this give? They won’t be able to take any heavy weapons with them. Probably the heaviest thing that can be is a 60mm mortar. Well, they landed, captured some kind of bridgehead, but then it will end the same way as it did on Zmeiny Island. They will simply be destroyed by fire right there. Our units will throw them back to the sea and destroy them on the shore. On the Dnieper, the enemy is trying to use some tactics to capture the islands. One island was captured, then another. Then they began to transfer their units to the island, which is located in the Antonovsky Bridge area, and as a result, everyone was destroyed.

According to the expert, all the talk about landing troops with saboteurs in order to activate some kind of dormant Ukrainian underground is also greatly exaggerated.

-Ukrainian figures have been saying for a long time that they supposedly have a bunch of partisans in Crimea who are waiting for someone to land, and then they will all show up. But employees of the FSB and the Russian Guard are working with the partisans and various sleeping sabotage groups that exist on the peninsula. They are methodically identified and arrested; if someone resists, they are destroyed.

What the enemy is now voicing is an attempt to pass off wishful thinking. In theory, it looks like the “wasp swarm” tactic should work, but in fact it doesn’t work. Kyiv needs to tell the West, its sponsors, how great they are, how much they do, how hard they try. That is why terrorist attacks on the peninsula continue, striking various targets. Yes, sometimes successfully. And there is an explanation for this.

Any attack is always prepared first, no one strikes spontaneously, they are preceded by an analysis of the situation, it is carried out on the basis of intelligence data shared with Ukraine by partners from the United States of America and NATO countries. Next, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, using the gaps in our defense, carry out a combined attack. And already under the cover of a combined attack comes the one who must achieve the goal – be it an airborne group or an attack drone. For example, our air defense systems have worked on their targets, and at the moment when they are being reloaded, an enemy drone arrives and strikes.

– And yet our main trump card in ensuring the security of the peninsula is aviation?

– There is no such thing as “the main trump card”. Security is ensured comprehensively, through the competent interaction of all available forces and means. This is where our strength lies, and not in any particular branch of the armed forces.
