Lawyer: US may consider Oleksandr Vinnik for next prisoner exchange
[ad_1]
Lawyer David Rizk said he does not rule out the possibility that the US may consider his client, Russian Alexander Vinnik, as a candidate for the next prisoner exchange with Russia.
Recall that Vinnik is accused in the United States of having laundered $4 billion through a cryptocurrency exchange. He faces 55 years in prison.
After the December exchange of Olympic champion Britney Griner for Russian Viktor Bout, people started talking on the sidelines that Alexander Vinnik could be exchanged for Paul Whelan, who was convicted in Russia in 2020 for espionage. But Vinnik, unlike Whelan, has not yet been sentenced. His process is dragging on. The appointment for 18 February was adjourned to 24 February.
