From February 1, changes in the legislation regulating the interaction between debtors and collection agencies will come into force, explained lawyer Kirill Danilov in an interview with the Prime agency.

The amendments establish the rules and format for communication between citizens and debt collectors. In-person meetings, phone calls, text messages and emails are now allowed. An important innovation will be the use of an automated intelligent agent to make calls using artificial intelligence, as well as the ability to communicate through State Services.

The time for communication between debt collectors and debtors is legally limited: you cannot disturb a citizen in the evening and at night, and also hold personal meetings too often. The number of telephone conversations during a given time is also limited. In addition, specific rules of communication have been established: rudeness, aggression, threats and psychological pressure are prohibited. Collectors will be fined for violating the rules, Danilov emphasized.
