Lavrov: the status quo in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone is unviable

The status quo in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone is unsustainable. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Ahmed Abu al-Gheit, reports TASS.

Lavrov mentioned that initially during the negotiations it was planned to discuss the upcoming meetings between Russia and members of the Arab League at the ministerial level, but recent events in Israel have made adjustments to the agenda.

“An unprecedentedly sharp turn in the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation, which once again confirmed that the current status quo in the conflict zone is simply unviable,” Lavrov said.

Head of the Foreign Ministry emphasizedthat Russia is ready to cooperate with the Arab League and all countries that are interested in sustainable peace in the Middle East and ensuring the security of all countries in the region, including Palestine. At the same time, Russia and the League must make their contribution to solving the problems of ending the bloodshed in the Middle East.

On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian group began military operations against Israel. In response, the Israeli Army (IDF) announced the start of Operation Iron Swords. Israel said the country had entered a state of war. According to Israeli media, during the conflict died 800 people, another 2,500 were injured. In Palestine, more than 430 dead and 2,300 injured were reported.
