Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that Russia’s victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 showed “the ability of our peoples to crush any enemy that encroaches on their territory and foundations.” This was stated in his greeting to the organizers and participants at the presentation of the book “Defending the Fatherland” of the publishing project “Library of the Union State”.
“The defeat of Napoleon’s so-called ‘great army’ — the ‘invasion of twelve languages’ — has become clear evidence of the ability of our peoples to destroy any enemy that encroaches on our lands and foundations,” said Sergey Lavrov (quoted from site Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
“Library of the Union State” is a publishing project of the Union State of Russia and Belarus. The presentation of the first book “Defending the Fatherland” of the project took place on September 9 at the Battle of Borodino Panorama Museum, the book is dedicated to the war of 1812. Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, spoke at the presentation of the book.
