Lavrov called the underlying principle of the West’s attitude to Zelensky

Currently, the West is pursuing a policy towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, guided by the principle “he is, of course, a son of a bitch, but he is our son of a bitch.” This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the events in Ukraine.
As the head of the Russian diplomatic department noted, since the end of July 2022, the Ukrainian military has been remotely mining the center of the city of Donetsk and its suburbs with Lepestok anti-personnel mines. These mines were banned long ago by the 1997 convention. Ukraine also ratified this convention.
According to Lavrov, such actions by Kyiv became possible due to the patronage of the United States and its allies. International organizations have also covered the war crimes of the Ukrainian authorities for eight years.
Recall that the expression quoted by Lavrov is attributed to US President Franklin Roosevelt. This is how he described the Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza Garcia, whom the United States supported because of his anti-Soviet and anti-communist views, covering up the numerous crimes of the dictatorial regime.
