Latvian police will fine motorists for “I am Russian” stickers

The Latvian police said they would force car owners to remove stickers from their cars with “potentially provocative inscriptions in Russian.” The department cited growing geopolitical tensions due to the conflict in Ukraine.
The police made this statement after publishing on social networks, in particular on the Twitter platform, a photograph of a car with a Latvian license plate and the inscription “I am Russian.”
The Latvian police announced that such inscriptions could be perceived by society as glorifying military actions.
Owners of cars with such stickers will be forced to remove them from their cars, and also explain the purpose and motivation for placing the inscriptions.
