Kyiv will send reserves before the NATO summit: Zelensky’s boundless impudence annoys the West

“From a military point of view, this would be a very big mistake.”

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov on June 28, in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times, announced the “main events” in the so-called counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In his opinion, they are still ahead, since brigades trained in the West and armed with tanks and other NATO equipment have not yet entered the battle. He did not name the dates, but pointedly stated: “When this happens, you will see everything … Everyone will see everything.”

Reznikov said that the current modest results of the “counteroffensive” are only a “preliminary display.” The main reserves of Kyiv, including “most of the brigades recently trained in the West and equipped with modern tanks and other NATO armored vehicles, are not yet involved in the operation.” They will be thrown into battle in the next stages of a larger “scale offensive”. At the same time, the minister urged compatriots not to count on “mutinies and uprisings” in Russia. He said that so far there are no signs of a drop in the morale of the Russian military after the attempted rebellion in the Russian Federation.

The words of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, specifically for MK, were commented on by a military expert, head of the department of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Evseev.

– How to relate to Reznikov’s words that all the main events of the Ukrainian “counteroffensive” are yet to come? Is the Kyiv regime planning a new attack? Does he have enough reserves for this?

– It should be noted that this statement was made by Defense Minister Reznikov, who actually does not control the troops. The real commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is now General Syrsky, commander-in-chief of the ground forces. Therefore, Reznikov cannot be perceived as an authoritative person in this matter. He was always more responsible for the supply of weapons. Second. The most combat-ready units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are largely disabled. They were supposed to ensure a breakthrough of the front line, after which it was planned to introduce two reserve corps into the resulting gap. The problem is that these buildings are not sufficiently equipped with Western technology. They are mostly infantry. They were intended not to break through the front line, but to enter the gap and further advance.

– However, it was not possible to break through the front and plans have changed?

– Due to the fact that it was not possible to break through the front, they can throw these corps into the attack. But this means actually throwing them to their deaths. The level of losses will be extremely high, and the effect will be minimal. From a military point of view, this would be a very big mistake.

– Why are the Kyiv functionaries insisting on this scenario so much? Do they not understand the consequences?

– Due to the fact that the NATO summit is coming up in July. They need to show at least some successes to Ukraine, to which NATO supplies weapons. And no success yet. There are only huge losses. Therefore, I think that an attempt to introduce these two buildings will be made before the summit. At the same time, there should be no illusions for Zelensky here. His immeasurable impudence is beginning to irritate the West. He was warned that he was being invited to the summit solely to authorize the creation of a Ukraine-NATO council. But he must keep a low profile. So, it is quite possible that there will be an attempt of a new counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the forces of these two reserve corps. Most likely, it will lead to very large casualties on the Ukrainian side. I don’t think there will be a breakthrough. But in the end, Ukraine will be left without reserves. And if at that moment some new blow is dealt to it from another direction, then Ukraine may find itself in a hopeless situation. I consider the introduction of these two corps into battle a gamble. But in view of the fact that this is required by the West, on which they are completely dependent, this is quite possible.

– Do they have only these two corps in reserve?

– Yes. But, firstly, they did not go through fully Western training. It’s a lie. Secondly, a significant part of these corps are people who were mobilized in January of this year. They have a low level of training and not very high motivation. In the event of high losses, and they are inevitable in open areas, their ability to break through the front line is extremely limited. Of course, they can fill up everything there with corpses, but it will be extremely difficult to achieve a real effect. And having lost these two corps, due to the reduction of the mobile resource, Ukraine will find itself in an extremely difficult situation by the autumn. So this is recklessness and adventurism of the political leadership of Ukraine.
