Kursk voluntary squads switched to round-the-clock duty – Kommersant

Volunteer people’s squads formed in the Kursk region switched to round-the-clock duty in the border areas until further notice, said the governor of the region, Roman Starovoit. The squads were created to help patrol the territories and protect critical infrastructure.

Mr. Starovoit added that it is planned to continue strengthening the state border and fortifications in the region. “In fact, since the May holidays, voluntary people’s squads have been patrolling round-the-clock patrols in the border areas on an ongoing basis of critical engineering infrastructure,” he said at a government meeting (quoted by TASS).

The Kursk region has a high (yellow) level of terrorist threat, as well as a medium level of response, within which the access control in the border areas has been strengthened. May 27 in the region, a construction worker was killed as a result of a mortar attack. May 28 a construction worker who was working on the defensive line along the state border received a shell shock.
