TV presenter Lera Kudryavtseva commented on the statement of Chulpan Khamatova in support of the demolition of the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators in Riga in her Telegram channel.

Lera Kudryavtseva wrote several emotional messages, expressing her bewilderment and indignation at what Khamatova said in an interview.

“What is she talking about!” Said the TV presenter. “The Immortal Regiment is soulless. They got the win.”

She also noted Khamatova’s statement about the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin: “And Pushkin – she does not know if he is a threat to Latvia’s national security.”

Chulpan Khamatova, who left Russia after the start of the SVO, now lives in Latvia and performs at the New Riga Theater. In an interview with the Latvian radio channel, she stated that the monument, which was demolished in August 2022, was allegedly appropriated by the Russian authorities. “The monument was occupied by the Russian authorities,” Khamatova said. “They appropriated it, as they appropriated the Immortal Regiment, making it official from an independent project.”
