The international Grand Slam tournament took place in Azerbaijan, where judoka from the Krasnodar region Valery Endovitsky took first place. He won in the weight category over 100 kg.

The regional administration said that this tournament is a qualifying stage for the Olympic Games in Paris. More than 400 athletes from 62 countries competed at the competitions in Baku.

Valery Endovitsky met with his opponent from Azerbaijan, Jamal Gamzathanov, in the final of the tournament. Victory at the competition brought the Kuban athlete closer to participating in the 2024 Olympic Games.
