Krasnoyarsk Governor Alexander Uss confirmed that his son Artem, who escaped from house arrest in Italy, is in Russia. He thanked everyone involved in the return of his son to his homeland.

The governor’s video message was published in his Telegram-channel. “This path, of course, was not easy. There are many versions, assumptions, both ours and foreign media, I will not comment on them. I think Artyom himself could say this with great reason, but for various reasons he is not a person inclined to publicity, and whether he will talk about it, what and when, I don’t know, ”said Alexander Uss.

He expressed his gratitude to everyone “who supported, cheered, and not only for us, but also for Krasnoyarsk, for Siberia, and for Russia.” At the same time, Alexander Uss noted that there are “many decent and sincere people” abroad who are ready to help Russia. Separately, the head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he called a man “with a big and open heart.”

Artem Uss was detained in Milan on October 17, 2022 at the request of the US Department of Justice. He is suspected of violating the sanctions regime and money laundering. The Italian court approved the extradition of Artem Uss to the United States, after which the detainee was transferred under house arrest. On March 23, it became known that he broke his electronic bracelet and left the apartment where he was by court order.

On April 4, the fugitive told RIA Novosti that he was in his homeland. In Russia, in October 2022, Artem Uss was put on the federal wanted list in a money laundering case. The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow granted the petition of the investigation to elect him a measure of restraint in the form of detention (in absentia). After returning to the Russian Federation, despite the previously chosen measure of restraint in the form of arrest, Mr. Uss, who voluntarily appeared at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was released on bail.
