2 players of the Krasnodar football club, goalkeeper Matvey Safonov and midfielder Ilzat Akhmetov, took part in a friendly match of the Russian national team against Iran. The game took place on the opponent’s field in Tehran and ended with the score 1:1.

Safonov played the entire match and received a yellow card in stoppage time. He conceded the only goal from the penalty spot in the 47th minute. The Russians also scored from the penalty spot – Anton Miranchuk scored in the 27th minute.

Akhmetov came on as a substitute at the end of the match. Also, 2 pupils of Krasnodar, forward Nikolai Komlichenko and midfielder Daniil Fomin, took part in the game.

Matvey Safonov in a post-match interview noted the high level of the opponent, the intensity of the match and the cool atmosphere in the stands.

On March 27, the Russian team will play in St. Petersburg against Iraq.
