Kotyakov: the unemployment rate in some territories exceeds 10%

In some areas of Russia, the unemployment rate exceeds 10%, said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov. He announced this at the session “The labor market of Russia: the state of labor potential and mechanisms for its development” in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). According to him, the highest unemployment rate in the country was recorded in Ingushetia.

“We clearly understand that there are a number of territories where the unemployment rate exceeds 10%. These are labor-surplus territories with which we will have to work purposefully, targetedly,” leads his words TASS.

For such territories, the minister noted, it is planned to develop additional solutions for the development of the labor market. “As of today, according to our statistics, Ingushetia has the highest unemployment rate, in my opinion, 27%,” the minister cited the data.

At the end of May, Vedomosti, citing Rosstat data notedthat the unemployment rate has updated its record. According to the results of April this year, the figure was 3.3%. The previous minimum was recorded two months ago – in February (3.5%).

But while the country’s unemployment remains at a record low, that “does not mean that all the problems in the labor market have already been solved,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with the government on March 29. According to him, questions about the quality of jobs remain open. “In some regions and localities, the unemployment rate is still much higher than the national average. At enterprises where output has declined, teams are partially loaded and work part-time. It is clear that this has a negative impact on wages,” the head of state said.
