Kostromich base jumper holds the record for landing accuracy

Interesting news came from the city of Sochi, where the festival base jumper competition in the Akhshtyr Gorge has just ended. This place is famous for having the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the country. It stretches at an altitude of 270 meters – and therefore it is not surprising that this structure was chosen by fans of base jumping – that is, parachute jumping from various high-rise buildings.

This unique sport is very dangerous – since a couple of hundred meters is an extremely low altitude for the parachute to open.

But base jumpers are risky people and compete not only in the jumps themselves, but also in their accuracy.

One of these adrenaline junkies was Kostroma resident Artyom Ivanov, who has been involved in parachuting since the age of 16, but about 10 years ago he became interested in base jumping.

At the age of 49, he is coming to the festival in Sochi for the eighth time – and this year he achieved his main success – he received the title of the most accurate base jumper, since he managed to land exactly in a circle with a diameter of 50 cm.
