The mother of Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov has commented on reports that her son’s feet were amputated.
“His wife, Oksana, has now gone to see him in the hospital,” said Valentina Kostomarova, quoted by Ren TV.
The skater’s mother added that she was not allowed to visit her son. And no one gave her information about whether his feet were amputated.
Earlier, TASS reported that both feet were amputated to Kostomarov.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Sports Oleg Matytsin refused to clarify the information related to the treatment of Kostomarov, stressing that the issue of health is very personal for each person. Matytsin said that “the whole sports family is worried about the health of our outstanding athlete” And, of course, everyone wishes him a speedy recovery.
On January 10, 45-year-old Kostomarov was admitted to intensive care with pneumonia. Later it became known that he was in a hospital in Kommunarka connected to an ECMO machine.
