Deputies of Bashkiria proposed to ban advertising on military duty evasion

Deputies of the Kurultai of Bashkiria have developed a draft federal law on establishing a ban on advertising of legal, consulting and medical services to free citizens from military duty, the press service of the republican parliament reported. Changes are proposed to be made to Art. 7 FZ “On advertising”. In the near future, the bill will be submitted to the State Duma, where it will be presented by United Russia deputy Rafael Mardanshin. The amendments were initiated by the Kurultai Committee on State Building, Law and Order and Judicial Affairs, chaired by Vladimir Nagorny, head of the faction of the Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth party.

The explanatory note to the bill notes that “the information space is filled with aggressive advertising of the services of commercial structures to evade military duty.” According to the deputies, various commercial structures offer to provide legal or medical services to draft dodgers on a paid basis in order to legally avoid conscription. The initiative is aimed at limiting the “negative impact of such structures on the process of military conscription.”

For violation of the legislation on advertising by advertisers, producers or distributors of advertising, administrative liability is provided. For citizens, fines range from 2,000 to 2,500 rubles, for officials – from 4,000 to 20,000 rubles, for legal entities – from 100,000 to 500,000 rubles.

The Criminal Code establishes liability for evading military and alternative civilian service, the note explains.
