Konstantinov reported record violations during the transfer of Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR

When Crimea was transferred to the Ukrainian SSR in 1954, ignorance of the legislation in force at that time and legal nihilism broke records. The head of the republic’s parliament, co-chairman of the special working group, Vladimir Konstantinov, told RIA Novosti about this.
“I don’t know what then prevented this whole procedure from being legalized. But, on the other hand, if legally verified decisions were made, then we would now have nothing to challenge and we would have no grounds for filing appeals to the court.
Earlier, Konstantinov announced the completion of the preparation of a request to the Constitutional Court of Russia about the compliance with the Constitution of the USSR law of April 26, 1954 on the transfer of Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR. During the inspection, the working group revealed gross violations of three constitutions at once – the USSR, the Ukrainian SSR and the RSFSR.
Crimea returned to the Russian Federation in March 2014 following a referendum. 96.66% of voters then voted for reunification with Russia.
