The newspaper “Kommersant” became aware that the Ministry of Digital crossed out the Russian operating system “Aurora” from the digital transformation project.
According to the source, the development of the Russian OS required 22 billion rubles of state funding. The ministry also confirmed that now developers on the balance sheet of Rostelecom will deal with Aurora.
Rostelecom, in turn, said that work on the operating system would continue, but the journalists could not find out whether the same amount of funds would be allocated to Aurora as before.
Recall that the Russian operating system is created specifically for work in the public sector. For the consumer segment, it is proposed to create a mobile operating system based on the open source Android with the participation of VK, Yandex, Sberbank and Rostelecom – this became known at the end of 2022.
