Kommersant: new regions asked the CEC to hold elections in their territories

All four annexed regions asked the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia to hold elections in their territories. About it informed Kommersant, citing sources in the commission, confirmed the information to the deputy chairman of the CEC Nikolai Bulaev.
The heads of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions declared their desire to hold elections – in all these regions there is a martial law (MA) regime, which was introduced immediately after joining Russia in the fall of 2022. According to the new amendments, in order to hold elections, the CEC must consult with FSB and Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The amendments themselves on elections in the regions with the regime of the EaP were approved by the Federation Council on May 24. The amendments allow elections to be held in the regions where the EP operates, based on the results of consultations between the CEC, the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. The heads of subjects with a valid EP have the right not earlier than 130 days and not later than 90 days before voting day to send a proposal to the CEC to hold elections or a referendum.
For the first time, elections in the annexed territories can be held on a single voting day on September 10. Martial law in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions has been in force since October 19, 2022.
Formerly Vedomosti wrote40 deputies are planned to be elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Zaporozhye region, and 90 and 50 deputies will be elected to the parliaments of the DPR and LPR, respectively. The authorities of the Kherson region, at the same time, have not yet decided on the exact number of parliamentarians, but according to the interlocutor of Vedomosti, who is close to the administration, there will be 30-40 deputies in the new legislative assembly.
