By the New Year, Kyiv will be decorated with Christmas trees, including on Sophia Square, but there will be no festive festivities. This was announced by the mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko.
He recalled that in wartime, mass events are prohibited, and in no case will they take place. But the New Year, Christmas and festive atmosphere will not be cancelled.
“Despite different opinions from different parties, whether it is necessary or not, we turned to business, which agreed not for budgetary money, but for their own funds, to install Christmas trees without New Year’s pathos,” Klitschko said.
Former Mayor of Kyiv acknowledgedthat blackouts in the city are possible until the very spring, and advised the population to move to private houses with a stove.
