The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of China denied that residents were holding mass protests over the introduction of covid restrictions in the country amid high incidence. This was announced by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Zhao Lijian during a briefing.

A journalist asked the diplomat if the Chinese authorities were going to lift the current anti-COVID measures, given the “widespread frustration” among the population.

“The situation you mentioned is not true,” Lijian said.

He stressed that China has always adhered to the policy of zero tolerance for COVID-19, and also made appropriate adjustments according to the actual situation.

Lijian believes that with the help of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities, as well as the support of the people, the fight against covid will be successful.

At the same time, it is worth noting that videos are actively circulating on the Web, which depict mass protests of Chinese residents who oppose the restrictions imposed by the authorities to combat coronavirus.
