Klishas declared the inadmissibility of creating emergency courts in territories under martial law

Andrey Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, said on Wednesday that emergency courts cannot be created in the territories annexed to the Russian Federation during martial law.
According to him, in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Russia, “there are courts established in accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and federal constitutional laws.”
Klishas stressed: “Establishment of emergency courts is not allowed.”
The senator clarified that in these regions “in terms of the administration of justice, the provisions of federal constitutional laws are applied”, “judicial proceedings are carried out in accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and federal constitutional laws.”
Earlier Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the introduction of martial law in four new regions of the Russian Federation.
