Singer Philip Kirkorov was sued for 2 million rubles

The Moscow Arbitration Court registered a statement of claim by the Russian Authors’ Society (RAO) demanding the recovery of 2 million rubles from the artist Philip Kirkorov. This is stated in the file of arbitration cases.

RAO’s claim was submitted to the court on December 28, but has not yet been accepted for consideration. The grounds for the claim are not indicated in the court materials.

RAO manages the rights of authors on a collective basis in moments when their practical implementation on an individual basis is problematic, in particular, during public performance of works. RAO collects royalties in order to then transfer them to the authors.

Typically, RAO sues concert organizers over non-contractual performance of musical compositions or after violation of relevant agreements.
